For more than 30 years, the Center for Demographic Research has provided high quality, independent research on a wide variety of population topics.  We provide demographic information and guidance on interpretation of complex demographic issues to Alabama’s citizens, businesses, non-profit organizations, and public agencies.  You may have seen our publications, like the Alabama Population Data Sheet or the Kids Health Data Sheet.  These data sheets provide a single source of an abundance of important information about your community and state.  This vital information has been used by public and private agencies to help with strategic planning, need assessments, grant applications, and community development programs.   

In addition to the data sheets, we publish monographs, prepare customized research reports, and write informational articles for newspapers and various organizations. 

In addition to providing information about Alabama’s population, the Center for Demographic Research can help you design research on other populations you may be interested in – whether that is your own organization or another group.  We design research processes and can assist with questionnaire design, selection of the study population, data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation of the results.
